ZMEL: project for a mooring and a light equipment zone in Hyères:
The city of Hyères has embarked on a process to reduce the impact of pleasure boat anchors on the posidonia seagrass beds by creating an ecological mooring zone with light equipment to the south and east of the Port St Pierre.
These light installations ecological mooring zones, are intended to improve pollution problems and can contribute to sustainable development of coastal areas by reconciling the interests of navigation, water safety, and environmental protection (posidonia seagrass beds).
This project involves delineating and developing, on the natural maritime public domain, temporary reception and parking areas for boats made of mobile and retractable installations. The objective is to regulate the practice of anchoring-on fixed points or on anchors in sufficiently sheltered areas frequented by boaters. The ecological mooring zones differ from port facilities by the "light" nature of the equipment they accommodate.
The goal is to establish an ecological mooring zone in a restricted area to the south of the Port Saint-Pierre:
During the summer period (from April 15 to October 15) :
46 small pleasure buoys: boats under 24 meters
Throughout the year:
3 mooring buoys for large pleasure boats: boats from 24 m to 40 m
